Good will in abundance
How wonderful it is to know such good people. It is truly fortunate to be surrounded by the good will of others.
I start this months news letter with a mail received from Kara Green. Kara has been very busy doing what little she can for the children of Darfur. Her work is highly inspirational to us all. Thank you kara for your fine efforts, you are a remarkable person and we are very thankful to know you as a dear friend. Many children benefit from your kindness and generosity. May this continue until all is healed.
Darling Pawo
What fabulous news I have for you! I'm so excited, I've gone from jumping with joy to crying at the generosity of people.
I held another fundraiser for the children of Darfur on Thursday. A couple of people had told me not to expect as much as last year due to the recession but we smashed it!! hee hee.
I wrote a piece for the local paper and managed to get a double page spread in with a pic of Marley and I cooking and some photos of the Darfuri women using the cookers, and I've been incredibly moved by the conversations I've had with people on the phone as a result, not to mention the cheques they've sent! Wonderful, totally wonderful.
We held a raffle on the night, charged for tickets, sold books and got a couple of stalls together as well as the main cookery demo entertainment..and guess what Pawo? £525 and it's still trickling in!!! Hee Hee! You can probably see me smiling over the internet! I think one of the most touching things for me was two young boys, Charles and William Amos, I think they are about 8 and 10yrs old, both donated their £6 pocket money each that they had saved up because they had heard about the suffering of the children in Africa and felt they wanted to do something to help them. How beautiful. Oh don't you just love life?!
As we did last year I'll pay in one cheque first now as we will have to wait for the remainder from the Pampered Chef company which will be a cheque direct to the Gesar Foundation, that will prob come in January.
Terry Emerson is an angel, we spoke on the phone and she was incredibly generous with her donation. We hope to meet one day.
The biggest thanks goes to Paul and Jacky - Wow, what a couple! Thank you for introducing us. They came armed with raffle prizes, a beautifully cooked Christmas cake, thanks to Paul, Jacky's sister Yvonne made 40 mince pies! they were amazing, very unassuming and modest and spent the whole evening inthe kitchen. They obviously think the world of you, as we all do. Lovely. Will connect with Corinne too, am thinking of Romania and medical supplies connections...anyway...
Have made contact with Jaden, he has a lot of contacts, so thank you again for introducing us. He sounds lovely.
We are all well, recovering after being poorly. Marley and I have had pleurisy which was nasty, but we're all good now. I'm doing my Reiki healing course which is fabulous. Plodding away with my book. Going to approach Prince Charles as he's championing the Rainforest as his cause and that's what my children's book is about, well, why not aim for the top?!! What am I like?
Well, must go, need to spend some time with my poor husband - think he's feeling a bit neglected!
the biggest love in the world to you, light and sparkle as always my special special friend. I do adore you.
Kara xxx Big cuddles from Marley and Darwin. Come and see us soon xxxx
The above letter displays exactly what the Gesar Foundation is all about. At one end we have humantarians living miles apart from each other but travelling to support the work instigated by others and at the other end we have adults filling themselves with great joy and we all know that happy adults make for happy and secure children. I cannot find adequate words to express my delight.
We all know that the potential for happiness exist and all our friends are through perfect thought and action creating the conditions for this to manifest. Countless beings will be grateful for your birth, even if they never meet you or even hear your name.
Below is a picture of Terry Emberson who has been a source of support to kara. This picture was taken in Devon England on the day when Terry introduced Pawo to the great Brazilian humantarian Divaldo Franco. It is Terry who encourages Divaldo to speak in Devon England on an annual basis.
Below we have a picture of Jacky and Paul Stone who live in Taunton Somerset. These wonderful people travelled from their home to support kara at her Darfur event in Exeter. We do not have a picture of Jacky's sister Yvonne but thank you to all three for your kindness and boundless generosity. Insidently, Paul does not always look like this. The picture was taken when Paul decided to dress up for halloween when giving out sweets to children who called at his door for treats.
The money raised for Darfur will once again be spent on solar cookers so the displaced children of the country will not have to leave their make shift camps in search of fire wood. It is outside their encampments that they are most vulnerable to kidnap, rape and murder. How terrible it is to think that some of our children are surviving in such hellish conditions.
Below is a picture of the painting Wish Fulfilling Tree. It is our wish to one day be able to present one of the limited edition copies to the people of Darfur to mark their efforts to bring safety to the children of their country.
The first of the Wish Fulfilling Tree limited editions is to be presented to the people of Wales. It will hang on public display in the foyer of the BBC building and mark the historic recording of the children's Anthem by the Caerphilly Male Voice Choir. Thank you to the people of Wales for a fine collective effort.
Dominika Baran started her career as an ambassador for children with the Gesar Foundation. We are delighted to know this young woman who houses such fine qualities of care and compassion.
As a valued ambassador of the Gesar Foundation, Dominika does much work to further the cause of other organisations who work on complimentary lines. Indeed it is through her contacts that Gesar are now supports/sponsors of Wielka Orkiestra Swiatecznej Pomocy. (The Great Orchestra Of Christmas Charity.)
Below is a picture of Dominika Baran with Pawo at their first meeting in Brighton England. It was at this first meeting that Dominika was welcomed to Gesar as our ambassador to the Polish children. Since this meeting, Dominika has worked tirelessly to build her team and has established the remarkable Musical Collage events. To read more about the work of Dominika, please go to our Gesar in Poland page.
Below is some information on the work and origines of the Great Orchestra Of Christmas Charity
The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity
The biggest and most prosperous charity organization in Poland. Its objectives, included in the
status document, are saving children's lives, health promotion and education in the field of
preventive treatment. Between 1993 and 2006 The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity has
collected and spent over $65 mln for saving lives. Besides humanitarian work, the Foundation
is also a powerful medium spreading the ideology of kindness, friendship, tolerance, and
openness.
In 1992, Jurek Owsiak, a well-established performer and the author of an avant-garde TV and
radio shows, used his pop-culture status to help under-financed Pediatric Cardio Surgery
Division in The Children Memorial Health Institute in Warsaw.
In his TV show, targeting very young and considered rebellious audiences, he said that cardio
surgeons from The Children Memorial Health Institute can not perform surgeries on babies
with inborn hearts defects due to the lack of funds for the medical equipment and they count
on the financial support.
In March of 1992, Jerzy registered the Foundation The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity.
On the first Sunday of 1993 he organized a nation-wide action. He invited Poles all around the
country to set up concerts, creative happenings, and parties during which they could collect
change that would be later on put on The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity account. It was
The Great Finale
. Thousands of people participated in the action. The Great Orchestra of
Christmas Charity collected over 1,5 mln of USD! The sum was spent for the highly modern
and professional equipment for 10 Pediatric Cardio Surgery Divisions in Poland.
In ten years, the Foundation has completed 8 gigantic projects. It has bought the medical
equipment needed on the numerous pediatric divisions specializing in: cardio-surgery, neonatal
medicine, oncology, post-traumatic surgery, pediatric nephrology, diagnostics, newborns'
surgery, and newborns & children under 5 years old divisions.
All together, over 10 thousands Pieces of the Most Modern Medical Equipment for Polish Public
Hospitals was bought and distributed in public hospitals all around Poland. Among others,
Foundation has bought: ambulances, incubators, physiologic monitors, oxygen blenders,
infusion and drainage pumps, pulse oximeters, infant ventilators, new beds, anti-bed-sore
mattresses, and many more.
I have recently been in Caerphilly, where I was able to meet with Graham Thomas, Hazel Matthews and members of the Caerphilly Male Voice Choir. It was a privilage to be there with them to witness a concert and to receive a taster of what is to come in the new year when they record Wish Fulfilling Tree.
Thank you Graham for making my stay so very comfortable. It was wonderful to meet you, your family and choir members and the curry was spot on!
Below is a picture of Pawo with Graham Thomas. It was shortly before this picture was taken that Graham agreed to carve a Welsh love spoon to be displayed at the eventual Gesar House. The love spoon is a Welsh tradition produced for marriages and other special occassions. In this case the spoon is to display thoughtfulness from us all toward the children of the world.
The picture below shows Pawo with Graham Thomas and Hazel Matthews at the Penyrheel Community Centre where the Caerphilly choir sang Christmas carols for the enjoyment of all who were fortunate enough to be present.
Hazel is enormously enthusiastic about the forth coming recording of the world Anthem for children. I will not spoil her surprise but I will say she has a very special one to present us. Lets wish the choir well for their busy festive season and look forward to working with them in the new year.
Below is a picture of the choir performing at the Penyrheol Community Centre. They were reduced in numbers on the day but still they managed to cause the effect of an express train flying non stop through a railway station. Brilliant!
We wish to say thank you again to Catrin Finch for her input in the forth coming recording, she is one of the worlds leading harpist and we are delighted to have her with us.
Thank you again to George Lenoudias for the music and to John Wilks for the score. Also we wish to thank once more Roy Noble and the BBC for their part in getting this together. Thank you to everybody.
It is usual to think of well established artist and choirs when we think of Wish Fulfilling Tree the children's Anthem. Their are several valued recordings including the one by Jaden Cornelious pictured below with Olivia Newton John but how wonderful it was to receive a version mid week from Ash Firebird and his friends. Ash is a musician of great talent having played in bands and as a busker in many places across the England and Scotland
The version of Ash Firebird will be available from site as soon as Adam is able to embed it. I truly do enjoy this version. It is synonymous with the spirit of the Anthem. It is for all children, recorded for them by those who care for their welfare. How wonderful is that??? Look forward to reading the story behind this version.
Congratulation to Jaden Cornelious. His newly formed charitable Foundation, inspired by Gesar, is already becoming something truly meaningful as we see the vulnerable benefit from his fine efforts.
Below is the logo of the Jaden Cornelious Foundation. Keep your eye out for it and attend the events held under its banner. A good night out is guaranteed.
Thank you Jaden for the work you do. Magdalena Rutkowska who has arranged for our Anthem to be recorded by Sara, an Italian saprano and kara Green look forward to working with you.
I wish to congratulate all who have worked so very diligently for children this year, not only through Gesar but through all thoughtful and meaninful organisations across the world. The word Gesar translate as meaning indomitable so under these circumstances we can say you are all Gesar at heart. Perfect! We are all brothers and sisters. Joyful adults make for joyful children. Lets look forward to the new year when our achievements will certainly reach new heights.
Bless you all. Enjoy the festive season.
From your friend
Pawo.
