Tapeley Park - The home of the Gesar Foundation
On August 29th 2007. The efforts to bring Happiness to the worlds children by the Gesar Foundation took a new and very welcome boost. It was on this historic day that an agreement was made between Hector Christie and Kelsang Pawo in Devon England, that the most beautiful and extensive Tapeley Park will from this day on, be known across the globe as the home of the Gesar Foundation.
It has always been our unwavering dream to have our gatherings and festivals among these most beautiful settings. To date we have not managed to do so as despite our willingness and suggestions from others, we still have not met the person with the organisational skills to allow us to do so.
We must apologise to Hector Christie, who owns the vast estate, as I know he would like us to be there.
It is the natural and unquestioned duty of all who represent the Gesar Foundation, to enrich the history of Tapeley Park by writing into the fabric of its foundations a remarkable story of joy and happiness for every child without exception.
Historians may well visit Tapeley Park to feel the unique quiet of where it all began. Meeting of great crowds who swear their allegience to the safety of children. How wonderful will this be!
Children in abundance across the globe for generations to come will be affected in a most positive way through the generosity and foresight of Hector Christie. We look forward to our first public gathering at Tapeley Park. Let our work begin and the bells toll out.
Please note that our registered office will remain the same and all correspondence is still to go through Lord Hamilton in Stag Lane. The address can be found on our contacts page.
Thank you Hector for your extreme thoughtfulness. There is not a single child in the world that will not be grateful for your kindness.
We have many friends in and around Tapeley Park. We were introduced to Hector by Joan Diamond who was to become so effective in putting together and running our North Devon drama group with the help of Mary and Athos from canplay based in Rope Walk Bideford. Also of course Jann Wirtz is close at hand.
The pictures below show some of our friends and views of the Tapeley estate
Above. Pawo with Jeffrey Cox, MP for North Devon and Pawo with Eco Joe who gives talks on how we can be kind to Gorilla's. Bless him Joe is six
Above. The view from the house, across Tapeley meadows to the coast line at Appledore and afternoon tea on the lawn served from the tea rooms
Above. A view across the Italian gargen and up the steps leading to the house from the Italian garden. There are several tropical plants that thrive here.
Above. The horses belong to Daphne and are housed near by but I thought you would like to see them so have put them on site.
Above. Jann and her husband Dieter with their very fortunate rescue dog and Pawo having been presented with a beautiful staff by our friend John
Above. John is a master carpenter and joked that he is the official Gesar staff maker. Certainly he presented Pawo with a beautiful Oak specimen to assist him on his extensive and never ending travels. Also. Pawo with Barry Evetts the founder of Book relief UK. Pawo is now an ambassador to Book Relief and Barry is to supply books to Kate Fereday and to Arbatu Ensesa libruary. Both John and Barry live local to Tapeley.
Above. Pawo along with Barry Evett and the Mayor of Appledore. Also. Pawo with the children's story book writer Tania at the Appledore book festival
Above. A view of Tapeley Park's lake and Pawo making the official announcement that Tapeley Park is to be the home of Gesar Foundation festivals
Above. Pawo with the children's poet Laureate and well known broadcaster and author Michael Rosen, both were guest at the Appledore Book Festival. The final picture shows a group of Ethiopian children who are a reminder of why we all are pulling together in common friendship, to serve those children so desperately in need. Thank you again to Hector and to all the friends we have made at Tapeley Park and a thousand other locations.
Please note.
